Mr. Holmes joined Pisanelli Bice in May of 2015 and represents individuals and local, regional, and national businesses from pre-trial to the appellate stage in high-stakes business and commercial disputes. He has represented clients in a variety matters in state and federal court, including contract disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, business fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and other business torts, intellectual property, employment law, product liability, insurance coverage, professional and general liability cases, and land use and zoning cases.
Mr. Holmes is experienced in preparing and trying cases successfully on behalf of his clients. Recently, he was part of the firm’s trial team that tried a two-week bench trial in the Court of Federal Claims against the United States for copyright infringement, resulting in a multi-million dollar verdict in favor of the firm’s client. Mr. Holmes also recently served as one of the trial counsel in successfully defending a national gaming client in a federal jury trial for claims of breach of contract and related business torts. The jury returned a complete defense verdict in favor of the firm’s client. In addition to his trial experience, Mr. Holmes has helped clients obtain victories in appellate courts.
During law school, Mr. Holmes was member of both the UNLV Gaming Law Journal and the Society of Advocates, Boyd’s moot court team. He served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Donald M. Mosley (Ret.) in the Eighth Judicial District Court of Nevada and as a teaching assistant to the Lawyer Processing Program at Boyd. Mr. Holmes was a recipient of the National Order of Scribes Award from the American Society of Legal Writers.
Mr. Holmes’ maintains an active pro bono practice and dedicates his time to community service work including in the past volunteering with Clark County Law Foundation’s Trial By Peers program and representing clients through the Federal Pro Bono Program in the District of Nevada.
